Show Stop and Refresh Buttons before Address Bar in Internet Explorer 8 – The Winhelponline Blog

May 4th, 2011 No comments

Took me way too long to get this to work, here’s what I did, right clicked on the refresh icon in ie 9 and selected the show stop and refresh:

Since Internet Explorer 7, the Go and Refresh buttons have been combined into one dynamic control, unlike other Web browsers which have a Refresh/Reload button on the left side of the Address Bar. There is a new setting in Internet Explorer 8 that lets you show the Stop and Refresh buttons before the Address Bar (while still retaining the Go button), as in other browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome etc.

Start Internet Explorer 8. Right-click on an empty area in the Menu bar or  Favorites bar area, click Customize, and enable the option Show Stop and Refresh Buttons before Address Bar.

Refresh and Stop buttons are shown on the left of the Address bar

Sunlight Is The Best Disinfectant

Justice Louis Brandeis coined this marvelous phrase: “Sunlight is the best disinfectant” in praise of transparency and honesty in public policy. It also works in marketing, public relations, and customer service. What’s weird to me is how few companies and organizations actually practice this in an effective manner. In this the Connected Age, I can’t fathom how a company thinks it can “manage” its way out of a crisis without stating the simple truth.

Favorite Quote from Inside Job Movie

Andrew Sheng: Why should a financial engineer be paid four times to 100 times more than a real engineer? A real engineer build bridges. A financial engineer build dreams. And, you know, when those dreams turn out to be nightmares, other people pay for it

Just watched this movie with Matt Damon.  Most excellent and makes me want to never invest in the stock market again.

Insight Cable $100 per month bill no more!

March 13th, 2011 3 comments

Today I installed an over the air antenna to pick up local channels.  My dad helped me get this installed on my roof which was an adventure but I get really good reception :-)

I’m still using insightbb for my internet connection but I’m only using http://www.roku.com/ to stream TV shows from Hulu Plus and Netflix.  I don’t get in ESPN but I’m okay with that :-)  I mostly watch the Daily Show and news anyway.
